The House of Service A History in Roy
The first Store Building in Roy was built by Wm. C. and Frank A. Roy and sold to Bond & Co. Floersheim Mercantile Co. of Springer bought it and opened Aug. 1 1903 with Hermann Goodman as manager. Jacob Floersheim remained with the store through its growth and in 1908 the building was enlarged to two stories.

The Floersheim Mercantile Co story covers from its 1903 start to the 1917 opening of a new store after the 1916 fire. The July 1916 building housed the business temporarily and later became a warehouse for lime cement and feed. A May 31 1916 fire devastated Roy within 45 minutes, prompting rapid debris clearing and rebuilding.
