A Custer county convention is scheduled to meet in Challis tomorrow Wednesday October 8 to nominate a full slate of county officers. The meeting aims to organize county government and select candidates for official posts.
Fragmentary list outlines counties and names under the Citizens Ticket. Mentions Bayhorse Challis Clayton Custer Battle Ground Houston Mackay Pahsamaro Sund Stanley and follows with a totals line. Pierce as Chairman Henderson as Secretary appear among the party officials.
Voters face the November ballot as Mackay and nearby precincts see a split in the Mackay slate. A mass meeting led to primaries on October 6 and a convention on October 8 to nominate a new county slate called THE CITIZENS' TICKET. The move pits laborers and tax payers against the established six office holders and a growing sense of populist challenge in Custer County.

In Challis at the Odd Fellows hall last Tuesday night September 80 the Democratic State campaign began in Custer county. Governor Hunt and Hon James R Sovereign spoke to a large audience after late arrival from Salmon by James Macnab and Sheriff Hughes of Lemhi. Sweet presided, and both speakers delivered strong logical arguments with Sovereign praised as an able orator.
The following warrants against Custer county will be paid with interest to date if presented within sixty days from date of this notice. Current expense fund April issue 1902 numbers 20 21 22 23. It calls for laws protecting health and safety in factories mines smelters and ore reduction works and states the question to voters at the next general election.

It calls for eight hour mining and milling limits, protects miners through updated lien laws, opposes changes to patent mining tax rules, defends the no mile limit law, criticizes Republican sheepman influence, and backs increased public school funding and James Hawley for U.S. Senate.
