Lostriver delegates report the death of Thomas B. Long during a hunting trip near Hailey. After failing to return home, a search party found him seated on a rock with rifle across his knees and a deer shot nearby. Officials say heart failure caused his death while resting.
The Challis track hosted Saddie and 600 Yard Dash events on Friday with Planger first in Saddie and George S first in the 600. A Saturday program featured 440 Yard Dash and Trotting Race with Penny and Jack among top finishers, plus a $50 match race where Hamilton’s Pahsamaroi Bill beat Penny. Old George S dominated the weekend, while attendance at events and a late Republican county convention proceeded with nominations for state and county offices.

Last Wednesday at 1 am an attempted arson threatened the Challis county court house and town. A wood yard behind the Auditor's office held a coal oil soaked pile and a five gallon can placed to ignite flames. The fire was discovered by Theo Camero on shortly after the match was applied. wind aided its spread but was extinguished. The perpetrator remains unknown and motive unsure, with a night watch assigned.

Bish Clark captain of the Lucky Boy Second Nine has received a challenge from an 8 year old boy of Challis and referred it to the club manager George Coryell for handling
Governor Hunt and James R Sovereign plan Democratic meetings in Challis tonight and Mackay tomorrow with Sovereign billed as the eloquent speaker. Republican candidate John T Morrison will tour Challis October 28 and Mackay October 29. Local visits include Henderson and Garrett in Challis.
