A large set of overlong passages expose the Hallis Weekly Messenger as a bogus Idaho paper. The Daily Mining Record and Spokane Chronicle note it imitates Challis Idaho’s Silver Messenger and promotes imaginary Thunder Mountain mines.
A citizen writes about centralized capital and its impact on rural ranch life. He describes a 160 acre ranch, paid for and home built, facing acquisition by a capitalist with agents buying up nearby land. Neighbors sell and move, towns decline, raising a question of whether many independent ranchers or a few large holdings benefit the community.
Mothers of Mackay High School graduates hosted a stylish banquet at Mrs N A Clark home for six graduates and four teachers. Tables in pale green and white featured calla lilies and carnations. Toast master Miss Keenan led toasts honoring hosts, fathers, the girls, the boys not present, and memories, then handsome refreshments and a lively conclusion as the guests departed happy.
A meeting at Challis Court House Friday evening organized a 4th of July celebration with officers elected including Chairman Geo. E. Keyes, Secretary M. M. Sweet, Treasurer F. A. Reed. General Committee members listed as I. C. Fos, Wim. Buster, C. P. Huston, Lie Kerr, J. C. Dougherty.
