Probate Court of Custer County Idaho issues notice to creditors and all persons with claims against the estate of George McGowan deceased. Claims must be filed with vouchers within ten months after first publication withExecutor W I Pelener at Challis Custer County Idaho. Published May 16 1905.
In accordance with instructions from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction the May examination for teachers will be held in Challis on May 25 26 and 27 1905. Questions will be issued for First Second and Third Grade county certificates. Louise Bascom County Superintendent.
A Boise migrant miner named D Debernardi died at the Lost Packer mine on Monday morning May 8 after a 24 hour illness described as pneumonia or Tonopah disease. Dr Kirtley was summoned but arrival came too late. The death occurred near Loon Creek with only scattered details.
The late firm of Watson and Jordan in Challis Idaho is dissolved by the death of partner Enos Watson. Creditors must present bills within three months with vouchers to C. B. Jordan in Challis. Debtors should settle within three months or accounts will be turned to an attorney for collection. May 11, 1905.
The Hailey News-Miner reports John L. Timmerman said his son Henry and Priestly Tomlinson discovered an extensive cave named Mammoth about six miles south of Timmeran, one mile from the main road. The entrance is small but leads to an 80 foot high, 30 foot wide chamber extending a quarter mile into a bluff. Plans call to enlarge the entrance and map the full extent.
Dr W W Paling was in the city yesterday morning en route east. He has sold his Mackay drug store and is touring east before locating again, per the Pocatello Advance.
Mr. Nels Olson, a longtime Challis resident and former sailor born in Sweden, died Friday morning May 12, 1905, of stomach cancer. He endured months of illness with stoic patience after seeking treatment in Salt Lake City. Surrounded by family and friends, his funeral Sunday drew a large crowd. he leaves a wife and other relatives.
Valentine Maelzer and Mrs Frankie Hicks nee Tremper both of Pahsamaroi valley were married in Challis on Wednesday afternoon May 10 1905 by Judge Horton. The couple’s siblings acted as bridesmaid and groomsman. The bride is daughter of Mrs Al Barselow of Patterson and has long resided in Bayhorse and Pahsamaroi valley. The groom is a schoolteacher who works on his Pali samarai ranch in summer. The MesseENGER offers congratulations and best wishes.
