Blackmail and Fake Papers Hit Idaho Mining Sector

Reprint from the Silver Messenger details a fake publication dubbed the Weekly Messenger from Hallis Idaho. The Silver Messenger exposes it as a fraud selling non existent Victoria Liberty Bell and Thunder Mountain mines. The issue is described as a large scam run by the Inter-Trust Security Co. of Boston and linked to stock swindles in Pocatello Dredging Co. The Messenger vows legal action and urges readers to beware.

Blackfoot dispute leads to slapping incident at court

The Blackfoot Democrat reports that Tuesday evening Attorney BE WK Kelley and Byrd Trego argued over school matters and Byrd slapped Kelley in the face. Kelley had Trego arrested for assault and Kelley pleaded not guilty before Judge Mackrell with a trial set for Friday.

Yellow Jacket Mine Sale Rumor Circulates in Idaho

The Salmon Herald reports Capt J A Dobbs of Denver spent a week examining the Yellow Jacket mine in Lemhi county, under G W Lewis, confirming a pending sale to substantial purchasers. He calls the property one of the largest low grade mines seen with ore in every hole and extensive development including adits tunnels and drifts.

Sudden Death of Challis Assayer Edwin Williams

Edwin Williams a Challis assayer and western pioneer died suddenly from heart trouble in his tent near Darling creek north of Challis on the night of May 24 1905 at 9 55. Present were his son Duncan and Thos Kerr whoCouldn’t save him. Williams born in New York about 56 years old had lived in Challis 11 years after moving from Boulder Colorado and ran an assay office. Remains were brought to Challis and lie in state awaiting his widow and two sons arrival. Relatives and community extend sympathy as disposition of remains is pending today.
