A long dyspeptic collection of aphorisms on virtue vice and life followed by a string of clipped local notices and editorials. The piece references a Missouri editor a marriage notice for Sylvia Rhodes and James Carnaham and jabs at local figures including John Bonin and John Doyle while criticizing sermons and moral portraits. It concludes with social gossip about Mrs Watson and a critique of flattery.
Notice to the public advertising Mrs. M. Jose's board and lodging northwest of R N Hull and Co store in Challis Idaho. Describes first class meals and lodging with large rooms good beds and a well supplied table. Rates offered by the day week or month.
George W Walsen once tied to the Salt Lake Herald and Idaho Recorder faced arrest in Salt Lake City on charges of stealing county funds. He allegedly married Ada Merritt and took over the Idaho Recorder, then left, prompting a police chase and a to date unresolved probe into the missing funds. Mrs Merritt, Lomhi county treasurer, awaits word as officials plan action.
A 1902 verse by B. Eddy from Custer Idaho laments an old deserted claim near the valley below Rocus, noting ruined cabins, encroaching grass, and a landscape unchanged yet filled with memory of better days. The poem reflects on gold seeking time and the toll on human effort as nature gradually covers the site.
