Sheep Eater War Party Vanishes in Yankee Fork
In Idaho 1878 a band of 80 Sheep Eater Indians disappeared near Bonanza and Yankee Fork. After a lengthy hunt, a lone decomposed leg turned up as the only definite trace. Miners later recounted a ridge battle ending in the massacre of the group and their burial beneath a rock explosion, concealing all remains except the lone leg.
