Missing teacher prompts search by town residents

Reports say the teacher did not appear at the school as scheduled. Residents formed searching parties and scoured the area after learning he was absent. A telegraph to Antelope and Dickey failed to locate him on the stage. It is feared he may have taken his own life and left town on foot.

Judge Commutes Death for Orchard in Caldwell Court

In Caldwell Idaho Judge Wood spared Harry Orchard from hanging after he pleaded guilty to the murder of Frank Steunenberg. The judge originally sentenced him to death with May 15 as the execution date and urged the state board of pardons to remit the extreme penalty and commute the sentence.

Surprise Party Honors Rodgers Family in Challis

A large surprise party celebrated the return of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rodgers and family from Pasadena, Cal. More than eighty guests gathered at the Rodgers home in east Challis with Mayor Rodgers and his wife hosting. Prizes went to Mrs. F. A. Reed and E. K. Dodge in drawing contests, with Mrs. Geo. E. Keyes taking the booby prize. The evening featured a phonograph, games, luncheon, ice cream, cake, and candy, ending near midnight.
