Ordinance Regulating Explosives in Challis Idaho

Ordinance 57 regulates keeping and storage of explosives within Challis Idaho limits. It bans more than fifty pounds of dynamite or nitroglycerin powder and caps, and sets penalties up to one hundred dollars or sixty days in jail for violations. Passed March 1908 by Acting Chairman T J Kerr with Clerk signature.

1908 letter from the Interior Department's General Land Office denounces past practice of advertising final proof notices in Salmon City papers far from the Pahsamaroi Valley lands near Challis Idaho. In Butte Miner a revival of talk about a railroad linking Butte Montana and Boise Idaho is seen as evidence that prominent capitalists may actually start building. The route would unlock rich mineral districts near Sheep Mountain and support a new mining and agricultural expansion with terminal shops for each city. A notice states J Job Ranch in Challis precinct Idaho will auction a red steer on March 21 1908 at 2 pm unless claimed by owner.

If co owners do not contribute 738.32 within 60 or 90 days as specified, undivided 46th interests will vest in the co owner filing the required expenditure. New 10-ton Chillian mill planned for Parker Mountain mine

Attorney W. W. Adamson reports Parker Mining Company orders a Rapid City built 10-ton daily capacity Chillian roller crushing mill to be placed at the Parker mine on Parker Mountain. The plant, water powered with a 40 horsepower turbine and 35 foot fall, ships from Challis Creek within four weeks and aims for a big bullion output this summer. The Parker property, owned by Judge James M. Stevens, Adamson, and F. J. Cowen, shows high grade ore with samples up to 150 per ton, plus adjacent Ed Williams and Williams claims promising further development amid rugged Lemhi county terrain.
