Public notice advertises first class board and lodging near R N Hal G os store Challis Idaho. Features include large rooms good beds and meals with best market supply. Rates offered by day week or month at reasonable prices. Mrs M Jose listed.
Challis readers will attend a program at the L O O F hall featuring the Summer Orchestra, choirs, recitations, and violin solos led by local artists. The event aims to fund librarian duties and book freight as Challis prepares for a new library. Feb 28 1902 Challis Idaho.
The Salt Lake Tribune outlines railroad plans by the Oregon Short Line with a Salmon River route to Challis and major line improvements. Citizens urge a meeting to secure right of way and push for the line to end near Challis, offering land from town edge and seeking unified action.
Notice asks all persons with books in Challis owned by Idaho Free Traveling Bee to return them. An exchange with Custer library was ordered on March 1, one month before the allowed time. A vast lead-silver ledge, forty feet wide, promises permanent, high grade ore with smelting value. Regional mining prospects surge as Oregon Short Line may extend to Salmon River this fall boosting Bayhorse and nearby camps.
District Court at Mackay Idaho on February 24 continues proceedings in a local case with limited readable details. The fragment indicates judicial activity but offers no names, charges, or outcomes beyond a court setting.
From Challis Idaho Feb 17 Robert Bell reports Sid Roberts and Tautphaus traveled to inspect extending the Mackay-Challis Stage road into Thunder Mountain. Roberts notes Eldorado promises exceed rumors as Spring reveals vast quartz deposits and deep underground workings extending within the ore zone.

George Ashton’s blacksmith shop leased by M A Hewitson of Salmon. George Clemon returns from Salt Lake City, and Thunder Mountain chatter fills the air. A Salmon race awards Wells a purse of 50 dollars. time noted. Attorney Brown returns from Mackay informing a district court term delayed to next Monday. Tolman hosts ram-o-phone entertainment at I O O F hall with praise. Saloon theft via back door transom yields a few dollars in whiskey. Yellow Jacket’s George W Lewis buys two Challis ranches for 4600 dollars. he becomes Yellow Jacket mine supervisor. Masquerade ball errors corrected. May Sullivan identified. Oregon Short Line surveyors arrive, fifteen strong, planning a Willow Creek crossing with a 40-foot cut. J F Fox receives thanks from Tautphaus for kindness to Challis and Thunder Mountain trips. Challis route deemed shortest and most feasible for the wagon road project.
