Stage line offers daily first class service between Challis and Mackay with connections to Three Forks. Stages arrive Challis at noon and depart 1 p m carrying passengers mail and express with mid day connections to Custer and Lemhi counties.
Today in Boise the state officers were sworn in and the Seventh Legislature convened. Republicans now hold state affairs as several candidates for U.S. Senator enter balloting. Names listed include Shoup Borah Standrod and Heyburn. Senate and House officers were elected with party lines, while county officers in Custer were sworn in yesterday.
Dr Jones the Salmon dentist arrived recent nature in Challis and reports good dental business. Hood River apples from Mt Hood area feature in local trade with Wm Buster selling large quantities. The Monroe Doctrine discussion, mining notes from Mackay and Wardner, and civic updates fill the page with railway needs, court house cleaning, and local social events.

Senator Baker stated to a Boise Statesman reporter that Borah was his personal choice and he planned to support him though not pledged yet. In Custer County three-fourths of Republicans favor Mr. Shoup, a view Baker does not endorse.
