Funeral Obituary for Donald Knowles Rowles Challis Idaho

Donald Knowles Rowles of Challis Idaho died peacefully at home February 24 1911 at age 59. A former Probate Judge postmaster and Sheriff he served Challis and Custer county with integrity and public spirit. The funeral was held February 26 with many relatives and friends attending, the community mourning a respected citizen.

Mask Ball at Challis Draws Big Crowd and Net Profit

Last Wednesday night February 22 Challis held a mask ball with strong attendance from spectators and masqueraders. Music by Geo F Tate Sunbeam and Harold Wilde May. A long list of participants includes Miss Lillie Johnson Pocahontas and Rodger Brasseur who won best disguise though maskless. The event raised a net profit of 66.30 and benefited the organizing committees.

Sad death by own action in Bellevue Saloon figure Ed Thomas

Bellevue News reports Ed L. Thomas, 51, shot himself in the head with a 32 caliber automatic revolver amid despondency at his home. He left a wife and three children, formerly barber and saloon operator, with ties to the Gate City opera house and Hailey Aerie. Funeral held at the Baptist church. coroner's jury ruled suicide.
