Death of Mrs Maraffio in Challis Idaho
Mrs. Maraffio died suddenly at Challis Hospital on Feb 15 1911 at about 8 pm after a brief illness. Born in Italy she had lived in the area four years and left behind a husband and infant. The obituary notes her affectionate nature and large circle of friends and recalls a Catholic service in Challis and burial at Challis Cemetery.

Bellevue Man Dies From Self Inflicted Gunshot
Word reached Bellevue Idaho last Tuesday night that Ed Thomas of Bellevue deliberately shot himself in the head. He was about 40, a barber who once lived in Custer and played for the Challis area team in 1902. He leaves a wife and two children, formerly Miss Morris of Custer, and had resided in Bellevue for seven or eight years since Custer’s mill and mines closed.

Protest Meeting in Challis Over Warren Conviction
A Sunday protest at Challis court house challenged Fred D. Warren’s six month jail term and $1500 fine for mailing matter aiding a kidnapping. Speakers S J Shaw J A Harrington and J M Hill backed resolutions denouncing federal and appellate court rulings as unjust toward the working class and demanding justice for Warren. The resolutions called for delivery to The Silver Messenger the Appeal to Reason congressmen and the U S president.
