Mrs J P Spalding has opened a board and lodging house at her residence in the northeast part of town near the Fox hotel offering first class meals and rooms at reasonable rates.
R A Pierce reports a Challis opera house concert featuring contralto Miss Annie Lee Fitch from Nashville with pianist Lady May Osborn age 10 and Prof F P A Reed. The large audience filled the hall and praised the masterly performance, noting Fitch’s Italian German and English songs and Osborn’s impressive piano work.
A bustling report details weddings and visits in Challis and nearby towns. Travelers from Pah samaroi Stanley Basin Clayton May Mackay and Bayhorse attended gatherings and Thanksgiving events. A Thanksgiving ball in Challis drew the season’s largest crowd while upcoming dances and a children party are noted. A mining lease, school notes, a fatal stage accident, obituaries and local observations round out the week’s Challis community record.
