Notice is given that Hugh Wood of Goldburg Idaho has filed for proof on desert land claim No 704 for parcels in section 2 township 13 north range 21 east before the Register and Receiver at Halley Idaho on September 2 1902. Witnesses named to prove irrigation and reclamation are F J Hagenbarth Harry Duan Thomas F Henderson and Edward Hunter all of Goldburg Tolabo.
The Challis MESSENGER reports Custer County's 1902 valuation roll at about 1.1 million, with railroad and telegraph lines to be added. Cattle farming dominates the economy. patented mines were trimmed. Prominent mining activity and local political notes fill the Challis area.
Last Saturday Republican delegates were elected from Challis precinct to the convention in this city next Saturday to choose delegates for the Republican State nominating convention at Boise City. Named are Jas. T. Gayle, Wm. Babcock, J. Q. Adams, Jas. H. VanCamp, IP, A. Reed, T. J. Paul.
