Water Rate Schedule To Be Presented At Next Meeting

With two city council meetings before the November election the City Manager said a proposed water rate schedule will be worked out by the next council meeting on Tuesday October 11. Residents will then review rates tied to the ballot measure about a percent income tax hike. Citizens Forum featured criticisms of water costs with Luther Stout blaming higher rates for homes for sale. Mrs Chiampo cited bills from 23 to 100 dollars and said water on Thonen Street was unsafe to drink, a claim echoed by a health official. The manager said new lines and hydrant flushing have improved water quality. Transportation issues on Thonen Street due to N Main Street work led to towing costs which the council agreed to reimburse. In new business the council transferred 13124.56 from the general fund, amended Ordinance 5029 via 5066, and second read an amendment to dog laws limiting households to two dogs. The solicitor was authorized to prepare commodity bid ordinances for 1977 to Standard Oil gas, Morton Salt, Jones Chemical, R D Supply, Lytle Construction, Ohio Pool, Four Share Inc. The next meeting is Monday October 11 at 7 30 p m at City Hall.
