Rittman United Way Allocations Set for October Drive
The Rittman United Way board approved a $23,000 fundraising goal for October 4 to 16. Lynn Beaumont announced allocations for agencies including American Red Cross $5,500, Salvation Army $2,000, Community Fund $3,400, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts councils receiving multiple grants. Division chairmen will be named next week with division goals.

Voter registration at the Wayne County Library Rittman Branch 49 West Ohio Avenue runs during operating hours 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration for the November general election closes Monday October 4. Rittmanites Win Big At County Fair
Rittman entrants at Wayne County Fair earned many rib bons and awards. Notable winners include Bev Followay with four firsts in 4 H horse show and Joy Kiser with two firsts and four seconds in baking and sewing. Other 4 H and Sterling and Doylestown clubsclaimed numerous prizes across livestock and craft divisions.
School Enrollment Drops But Is Leveling Out
The Rittman Board of Education reports total opening enrollment down 28 from June and 45 from last October, totaling 1656 across West Hill North Street Middle School and the high school. The decline is slowing with smaller elementary classes. staff for 1976 77 is down 3.4. Superintendent Stucky cites roof problems after summer rains. Sept 9 flood damaged West Hill library and other spaces, prompting temporary library relocation and planned roof replacement in spring.

Board adopts smoking policy and budget updates
The Rittman Exempted Village Board of Education approved a no smoking rule for indoor spaces and buses with limited exceptions for staff areas.
