Bank Robber Robbed Apple Creek Bank Then Bar Hop Stop in Rittman
Tom Robinson 31 of Wooster allegedly robbed the Apple Creek bank of about $5,000 and fled north. He stopped at Higg's Tavern in Rittman where patrolmen spotted his 1961 Chrysler behind the bar, triggering a large manhunt by local, county, state and federal officers. He left after a brief exchange and was later held for questioning after returning to Barberton.

Second Area Man Killed In Vietnam
Marine Pfc John T Klump, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Klump of Marshallville RD 1, killed in action Saturday Sept 24 in the Chu Lai area. He was attached to Co G Weapons Platoon Seventh Marines, joined the unit June 16 after jungle warfare training at Camp Pendleton. He entered service in January. Survivors include his wife Sharon and his parents three brothers and a sister.
