Recruiting Office Set Up Here at Rittman Post Office

The Marine Corps announced a recruiting office will be established at the Rittman Post Office every Monday from 2 to 2 45 pm. William Smith of Akron will be on duty to provide information on enlistments. Three and four year enlistments are offered. Bad Water Shortage Hits Doylestown

Doylestown faces an acute water shortage with schools closed since Wednesday to conserve the meager supply. The sanitary system is nonfunctional at schools due to low water. A newly dug well at 500 feet may be draining old wells but is not producing as expected. George S. Petit Inc. assists by pumping at night, supplying 26 000 gallons to the village tank. Morton Salt Raises Wages After Labor Committee Meeting

Morton Salt Company will voluntarily raise wages effective October 1 after a meeting with Local 12081 United Mine Workers of America committee. The raise adds five cents per hour for hourly workers and a comparable increase for piece workers, with salaried employees also receiving a pay rise.
