Boxboard Mills Move Toward Crosswalk Construction

City Council authorized 12 crosswalks and 13 street signs for post office logistics and new carrier service. Estimated crosswalk cost $120, with gravel and asphalt surfacing to be done by the street department. Coshocton Man Arrested for Utility Charge by Marshal

Coshocton resident Boyce Haupton was arrested by Marshal Heffelman on a charge of lacking a permit from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. He was tried before Mayor Baker and fined costs. Another arrest by Marshal Heffelman involved CleTus Goffinet for disorderly conduct and breaking windows. Goffinet pleaded not guilty and his trial was set for tonight at 7:30 before Mayor Baker.

Leona Harmon Found After Disappearance

Leona Harmon, missing since Monday 8 a.m. from Rittman, was located Tuesday in Fairport and returned home with her mother after a marshal issued a broadcast.

New WPA Road Project in Rittman To Link Towns

L W Turner oversees a WPA project near Route 94 to Wadsworth Easton Road worlding a 28 foot road surfaced with washed gravel. Nearly 200 men work in four groups on two miles of graded roadbed to remove curves and hills, started August 9 and due for completion in November. Total cost is about 83180 with federal and local contributions. project aims to connect Rittman with Doylestown and make Rittman the nearest town to Doylestown.

Doylestown Store Robbed Monday

A group of Akron youths was held in Summit County jail after burglarizing the Ray Zody Volunteer store at Doylestown early Monday morning. Deputy Glenn Rike chased them, they admitted smashing a window and entering the store, taking about 17 dollars worth of goods and damaging a radio. Their juvenile-court cases were presented with disposition deferred while officials are contacted due to past records.

Rutherford followers pelted with eggs and fruit in Doylestown

Jehovah's Witnesses led by Judge Rutherford planned a 6 pm Saturday meeting on the Doylestown square despite a prior event where a transcripted speech was pelted with eggs and vegetables. About 25 adherents paraded the streets carrying signs, as cars were struck and no arrests were made while the mayor refused police protection.

Sterling Men Plead Guilty and Not Guilty

Justice John G. Viest set bonds of 1000 dollars each for Raymond Gasser and Merlin Steele of Sterling R. D. when arraigned Monday on burglary charges for the Neuffer home west of Smithville. Gasser pleaded guilty. Steele pleaded not guilty and claimed he drove the car but did not assist or know of the plan.

The Rittman volunteer fire department, with 17 members on duty, answered the call Sunday around 8 30 p m to extinguish a grass fire.

Ohio Box Board Co extends work week to six days

Four mills at the Ohio Box Board Co plant in Rittman extend the work week to six days, six days a week with Saturday added last week. Superintendent O E Carpenter cites a fall peak and a rush of regular customers stocking up before war prices as causes. Personnel Director A Bathicel wards notes many new hires. nearly all employees are on full time. The payroll boost is expected to raise roughly $10,000 monthly in Rittman. The company aims to satisfy key customers now to avoid a production slowdown later. About 600 workers are employed, excluding office and sales staff, with enough orders to sustain the six-day schedule for weeks.

Troxel Child Rites To Be Held Friday

Miss Herminia Lendy and Henry Lendy of Rittman report their aunt Mrs Ursula Mahbie aged 83, a former Rittman resident, died of a heart attack in Los Angeles. Born in Switzerland, she lived in Rittman years, moved to California a decade ago. Preceded in death by husband and two children. Cremated body sent to Rittman for burial in Rittman Cemetery. Services for Mrs Theodore Rook Friday at Presbyterian

Funeral services for Mrs. T B Rook 5 died at the family home on Sterling Ave after a months long illness. The service is Friday at 2:30 pm at the Presbyterian church with Rev E S Hendrickson and Rev L L Grubb officiating. Burial in Rittman cemetery. Ebert Funeral home in charge. R. D. Wenger Unveils First 1940 Pontiac

R. D. Wenger Rittman Pontiac dealer received the first 1940 model Friday and the new car is on display at the garage on 8 Main St. Pontiac is manufacturing four models this year with two six and two eight cylinder engines. Wenger's ad appears on page 6 of The Rittman Press.

Burbank Estate Appointed Administrator and Appraisers

Swope Elected President Of Rittman Band Mothers Club

Mrs L E Swope was elected president of the Rittman Band Mothers Club at a meeting held Tuesday night at Rittman High School. New officers include Mrs K W Osborne vice president Mrs G F Steele secretary treasurer and Mrs Lawrence Stoolmiller assistant secretary treasurer. The club formed a membership committee led by Roy Baker and Mrs Ray to contact each member. The group also listed a ways and means committee and noted the high school marching band will perform Friday night at the Rittman Doylestown game if uniforms arrive. Mary Boling Rites Held At Rittman Ohio

Mary Boling died Tuesday at her daughter Sadie Mulford’s home in Orwell Ohio. Funeral services were held Thursday at an unspecified church with Rev McGee officiating. Burial followed in Rittman cemetery. Survivors include two daughters Maude Jeff Mulford and Mrs Maude Jeff Rittman and three sons Walter Charles and Walter all of Rittman.
