Mary Catherine Campbell of Columbus, Miss America for two consecutive years, will appear in Rittman on Wednesday Oct 17 at 1 30 a m on the Public Square. Plans mark one of the largest Masonic visits to Wadworth for Wednesday night October 3. Yusef Rhos Grotte of Akron will lead games, crafts, and desserts as up to 10 000 people from surrounding towns attend open night. Public program includes drills, concerts, and a big parade by Akron Grotto Land and Grotto Octet with the Drum Carpa ensemble.
Supt A Garver and Mrs Garver hosted an outdoor picnic for teachers, board members and spouses last Tuesday evening. The hosts’ hosts provided wiener and bacon sandwiches, marshmallows and coffee as guests enjoyed the informal gathering at the Burns property, newly prepared by owner Brenneman.
At a Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid meeting last Thursday it was decided to split the society into three circles named Circle 1 Circle 2 and Circle 3. This week each circle met to organize and elect officers Circle 1 gathered at Mrs PF E Gilbert's home on W First Street Circle 2 met with Mrs Edith Hickin on Fifth Street and Circle 3 met with Mrs H C Meredith on Fifth Street.
Judge Walter D Meals of Cleveland, long known to Wayne County lawyers for appearances in cases involving local citizens and corporations, died after a cerebral hemorrhage. He served as president of the Ohio State Automobil e Association and the National Motoring Association. Funeral services were held Monday.
The Royal Auxiliary announces the show season will open Thursday evening in Rittmin on Oct. il with production led by Verne Gobet as president. About 52 men and women are required to support the effort and local talent is asked to audition or participate.

Grand View allotment grounds broken last week for five new houses and several ongoing builds. Mr and Mrs Melvin Rider are erecting a residence on Second Street with work in progress. Mr and Mrs Ritter also set to build east of Second Street opposite Ritter home. H E McGracken residence by A L Carpenter is the first of many to be occupied in Grand View.
Work is underway on North Street to improve grading and ditching and install drain pipe. Heavy rains wash dirt and muck to the Main Street intersection, requiring crews to remove debris after storms. Proper grading and ditching will prevent future washouts.
A damaged notice describes a benefit garden party hosted by the Auxiliary Board. Attendees include Mrs Gannon and Mrs Parkinson representing Rittman. The event proceeds support the local hospital’s municipal council and affiliated groups, with fundraising totals cited around ten dollars.
William P Gainer of Rittman, an electrical student at Milwaukee, on duty at an amateur station, relayed the first Porto Rico hurricane message to Washington. A second message followed. contents not public. Gainer’s effort drew attention from Byrd’s Antarctic expedition and others.
Miss Delphea Cathevinn Go for daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Gairan. East of town, and William Straiton Jr son of Mr and Mrs David Straiton Sr of Wadsworth were married Saturday at the Mennonite Church Wadsworth Rev Wilmer Shelly performed the ceremony. The couple left for a weeklong honeymoon and will reside on Parade Street Wadsworth.
Mrs. Charles Orr of Wadsworth dies after long illness aged about 60 married to Erle Orr railroad employee. She was related to Mr and Mrs Ernie Burkett and Miss Mary Orr a teacher at Rittman school. Funeral services held Thursday afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Smith entertained a number of relatives at their home last Sunday to welcome the arrival of their granddaughter Geraldine Lee Hardgrove who was born recently. The gathering included family and neighbors in Canton Alabama.
Rittman wins a crowded regional baseball tournament with multiple games. Lodi defeats Doylestown 4 to 0 in the opener. Barberton and Rittman clash as Uhwe Uhle leads Rittman to a victory. Rittman then beats Lodi 2 to 1 as Vaughn shuts down the offense. Rittman advances to face Lakeland Beach, with Shreve having predicted the final winner.
