Also notes birthdays, local thanks, a paper making demo at the Apple Festival, a district manager appointment, Chamber drawing winners, and obituaries.
Rittman Fire Chief Lawrence Cline urges pre season checks on home heating equipment to prevent deadly carbon monoxide exposure. He advises proper venting, chimney cleaning, fresh air, avoiding DIY fixes, and using a qualified installer for new units. The note also covers emergency medical services funding and Regula’s stance on vetoes and care programs.
Fredd Ford sponsors the Rittman Punt Pass & Kick contest with registrations through Friday September 28 at 5 pm. Local youngsters eight to 13 may enter at the showroom with a parent, no fee, six age groups, trophies for top three in each group, winners advancing to Zone District Area and National Finals at Houston.
Charles Mann for Engineering Associates outlined tap fee proposals to fund extending utilities to the Boise Cascade site at Mon day council session. Water taps would be about 700 dollars residential and 890 dollars commercial, sewer taps about 1 300 dollars for Sterling Avenue and 140 north of Sterling. The plan covers about 1 000 lots across 300 acres plus Hilltop and Sterling, with fees reflecting interceptor and branch line use. Study sent to finance committee.

Rittmanites of voting age may register Thursday September 27 at the Police Department. Registration will be held from noon to 9 pm. Be sure you are registered to vote.
The Presbyterian Women sponsor a rummage sale at the Junior Achievement Building on September 29 starting at 8 30 am. Proceeds support church activities and community outreach.
