Frank Greenawald owner of the Greenwald garage Wooster was killed in a high speed auto crash near Dalton Friday evening. B H Ellenberger and A K Crumley were injured but survive after the buggy appeared suddenly and the car overturned several times.
Mrs Emma Zehner age fifty five and Mrs L E Benjamin age forty five, sisters of Creston, were killed Saturday night when an eastbound B and O train struck them at the Main street crossing. It rained heavily as they walked arm in arm with umbrellas over their heads, unaware of the approaching engine. The engineer did not see the pair until after the impact, and their bodies lay about eighty feet from the wreck.
E. W. Thompson cashier of The Citizens National Bank of Wooster and director and stockholder in The Farmers Banking Company of Sterling died at his home in Wooster on Thursday evening in his 43rd year. Funeral services were held from the Thompson home in Wooster Sunday afternoon.
The village of Creston weighs a new public square on the site of recent ruins. A civil engineer has been hired to survey and submit plans if the survey proves plausible. Like many towns, Creston hopes the disaster may spur a better future.
Regional high school ball game between Rittman and Doylestown teams set for Friday afternoon at the ERE s¢ ESA school grounds.
Nellie Shook and Clifford Shook wed at the Elmer Kutz home on Pleasant View. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. B. L. Westenbarger of Wadsworth with only immediate family and a few close friends present. Nellie, formerly a clerk at Faber bakery, and Clifford, in the concrete contracting business with his father, plan to live in Rittman.
B and O passenger and mail train No 11 between Bridgeport and Cleveland collided with a stationary freight at Warwick on Thursday. The caboose and several freight cars were demolished. Mail clerk W A McKelvy of Cleveland, formerly of Sterling, was hurled from his car but survived with minor injuries.
In a Saturday doubleheader at Doylestown the Rittman team dropped both games. Umpire Vuetch from Cleveland, a perceived Doylestown Aluminum Co. representative, ruled balls as strikes during one game. Rittman managed five hits off Indian Wolfe, with Huffman and Shook delivering key at bats.
