Bond Issue to Fund Rittman Recreation Improvements

Rittman Village Council held multiple meetings to craft a bond issue resolution aimed at a November ballot vote. The plan covers a swimming pool and other improvements in the Luikart recreation area with an estimated cost and annual impact likely under five dollars for the average homeowner.

Weekend Football Preview Sets Fourteenarea Teams

A two night preview at Wooster High Maurer Field on Sept eight and nine features fourteen area teams. Ten eleven man squads and four six man squads are on the schedule with three games Friday night and four on Saturday including matchups Walnut Creek vs Hayesville Coshgeton vs Worcester Orrville vs Mt Vernon Jeromesville vs Glenmont Doylestown Wellington Rittman vs Mansfield Madison and Dalton vs Brunswick. Games run sixteen minutes each.

Community Fund Meeting Set for September 19 1951

The annual Rittman Community Fund meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September 19 1951 at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building. The closing year’s work will be presented and three board members will be elected. All clubs organizations and churches are invited to send representatives.

Rittman Press Celebrates 39th Year Of Publication

The Rittman Press marks its 39th year of serving the community with expanded facilities and new directories. The paper notes a 70 percent building expansion, a bigger office, and a growing circulation above 2,600 as it continues local town and country coverage. Mrs Alice Overholt Dies After Month Long Illness

Mrs Alice Overholt age 86 died Wednesday morning at her home 27 S Third St after a month long illness. She was widow of Isaac Overholt who died in 1943 and is survived by two sons William H and Clifford of Rittman. Funeral at Gillman Funeral Home Friday 2:00 pm with Rev D K Freymeyer of Evangelical United Brethren Church officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery Wadsworth. Friends may call Thursday evening 7 to 9.

Indians Ready for Gridiron War in 1950 Schedule

Indians begin football preparations for the 1950 season under Coach Hall with 26 candidates and 13 lettermen. two lettermen departed. The nine game schedule includes home games against Orrville Bellville Copley Loudonville Wadsworth and Millersburg with road dates at Canal Fulton Medina Doylestown and Millersburg.
