Rittman Legion Vets Capture Wayne County Baseball Trophy
The Rittman Legion Vets won the 1946 Wayne County Baseball Championship Sunday at Sterling field after an 11 inning 5 to 4 victory over Shreve. Turner and Irland pitched well, while Petkoff and Plant homered for the rivals. Nearly 900 fans attended the Labor Day tournament concluding with the Knights of Pythias awarding prizes and thanking players, umpires, and volunteers.

Complete New Elementary School Sought By Board In Nov Bond Issue
Voters in the Rittman Exempted Village school district will decide on a bond issue of about 420000 for a new school. The board adopted a resolution to seek approval for a maximum 6 percent of property valuation to fund a full eight elementary grades and kindergarten, to be built on the current high school football field site west of First Street. The project includes moving the stadium to a new site such as Bauman Orchard property west of Fifth Street, with completion planned before the old field is dispensed with.
