The Farmers Sportsmen Association sponsors a coon chase for the family of Ben Emch polio victim. The event scheduled Sunday September 21 at the Ben Maibach cabin south of Sterling carries a $1 entry fee and features four large trophies for winners.

Lambert Returns Home From Germany Discharge
Pfe Charles Lambert arrived Thursday at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Edgar Lambert after nine months in Germany with the 43rd signal corps. He was discharged Wednesday August 27 after induction at Wooster September 15 1950 and serving at Camp Pickett Virginia for basic training before going overseas. He graduated from Rittman High School class of 1946 and worked for Ohio Boxboard Co prior to his induction.

Rittman schools will open Monday September 15 at 8 a.m. Kindergarten attends the next day. General teachers meeting is set for Thursday September 11 at 10 a.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. classes start 8:30 a.m. to 1:22 p.m. Buses start that day with routes and times listed. Lunchroom starts September 17 at 30 cents per meal. Parents meet with Miss Ashton to align with sessions 9 a.m. 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Fall Causes Broken Hip at Ben Franklin Store
Mrs. O. A. Houglan suffered a broken right hip when she tripped and fell at work in the Ben Franklin store last Thursday. Gillman’s ambulance took her to Wadsworth hospital for treatment. The family reports her condition and spirits improving. It is hoped she will return home the first of next week. She has been able to sit in a wheelchair since Tuesday.
