The Evang Lutheran United Brethren Church in Sterling held a Sunday ceremony for the cornerstone of a 40 by 46 foot addition costing 38000 dollars. Dr B R Arnold spoke after which a fundraising drive aimed to raise 20000 dollars still needed by Sept 7. The project will add classrooms restrooms a kitchen and more sanctuary space to serve about 200 Sunday school attendees.

Fire destroys small building on Ow Landis farm
Fire destroyed a small storage building on the Ow Landis farm yesterday afternoon causing about 680 dollars in damage. Fifteen volunteer firemen and the community fire truck fought the blaze for around thirty minutes. Fire chief Everett Eeler said the cause is not yet known.

Diana Theater in Rittman will open after teachers return to school with Frank J. Slavik of Middlefield and Mr and Mrs Albert P Wills of Akron running it. The cinema will show six days a week closed Tuesdays with after 3 pm showings on weekends. Interior painting and new screen and equipment install are underway as the Wills couple plan to live in Rittman and Slavik runs the Middlfield Mu Mat and three other theaters in the area.
