Willis Cornell Dies In Apparent Electric Shock At Home
Willis Cornell 42 of 124 N State Street was killed at 5 58 PM Thursday while working on his car at home. First examination by Dr William Walker suggests electrocution. County Corner William Adair will rule on the cause later. Funeral home ambulance drivers and Dr Walker failed to revive him. Cornell had lived in Rittman since 1945 and was a native of Fredericksburg Ohio. No other details were available at press time.

Booster Club nears its $6000 target after a White Elephant Sale raised $278 last Friday. Residents Clash Over North Hicken Street Paving Grades
North Hicken Avenue residents won a dispute with Council and Engineering Associates over street paving. After a meeting Tuesday night, the east side will be warped to meet driveway grades. The firm will share part of the extra cost. Residents cited driveway elevations up to 18 inches over five feet, complicating vehicle access.

Racin Barn in Chippewa Township Destroyed by Lightning
For the second time in 13 years a barn owned by Mrs. Anna Racin of Chippewa Township was struck by lightning and destroyed Sunday night. Fire departments from Doylestown and Clinton and Manchester stations fought the blaze. two silos survived and 26 dairy cattle were in pasture. Mike Racin, son of the owner, suffered second degree burns while battling the fire.

Pipeline to Morton Salt Brine Field Near Rittman
Pipeline construction to the Morton Salt Company brine field, 1.5 miles southwest of Rittman, began last week. Two 10 inch lines run to two new wells on the C E Wilson farm for brine and water. Drilling will follow hydrofracting connections and full operation aims to source plant salt from the new field. Completion in three weeks with immediate drilling after.

Former Resident Dies In Texas
Master Sgt. Wilson Dohner aged 44 died August 28 from a heart attack in Amarillo Texas where he served at the Air Force Base for several years. A Rittman High School graduate he is survived by wife Mary Louise two daughters Linda and Diane of the home a sister Mildred Bender of Wadsworth and a brother Clayton Dohner of Creston. Burial was in Houston Texas September 1 from Heights Funeral Home.
