Prize Winners at Fall Festival Highlight Local Exhibits

The report lists prize winners from the Fall Festival with awards in Agricultural Exhibit No 1 White Corn No 2 Yellow Corn Potatoes Apples Grapes Pears and Domestic Articles including Canned Fruit Preserves and Pickles. County Elections Names For November Judges and Clerks

Central committee members from Republican and Democratic parties in each precinct submit to the county board of elections the names of judges and clerks who will serve in the upcoming November election.

Judge Weiser Honored and Legal Action Against Erie Railroad

Judge C A Weiser of Wooster was elected a trustee of Heidelberg University by the Ohio Synod. Phoebe E Grobe administrator of Leroy Kreiders estate sues the Erie railroad for 100 000 Kreider was killed at the Erie crossing near Barberton last spring. Kreider lived in Barberton and ran dry goods stores in Wadsworth Medina and Barberton. The Ladies Aid of the United Brethren church plans a bazaar in the H Weiss room near the post office on December 3.

Sheriff aims to curb high beams in Wayne County traffic

Sheriff Bucher and his deputies are enforcing a new traffic rule to require motorists to dim headlights when approaching and passing other cars. Complaints have risen and the office will ensure strict adherence to reduce glare and violations in Wayne County.

Mrs H B Adams Suffering Sudden Illness at Wooster Hospital

Mrs H B Adams became acutely ill last Thursday at the Adams home on Murdock Drive. Doctors diagnosed appendicitis and she was taken to Wooster Hospital where Dr Stull operated soon after arrival. Local friends report she is recovering nicely.

District Rally Set With Public Program at Branigan Hall

A district rally will be held next Tuesday October 27 with afternoon and evening sessions. The evening program welcomes the public and Branigan hall will host the meetings attended by visitors from Sterling Seville Medina and Wadsworth.

Infant Ralph Vaughn Dies in Georgetown Area

Four month old Ralph Edgar Vaughn son of Mr and Mrs Henry Vaughn of Georgetown died last Thursday after a hospital stay in Canton. Funeral services were held Saturday morning. The Vaughn family stated he had been seen at Canton Institution and died while on the way home. Mr Vaughn is employed at a focal factory.

Olla Padrita Club Meets at Mrs Carruthers Home

Mrs Carruthers hosts the Olla Padrita club on Second street with a program on artists. Mrs John Hickin prepared an Artists paper while minutes were read and new business and next year’s program were discussed. Mrs H S Squibby stood in as secretary and refreshments were served.

Road Not Yet Open to Public in Rittman-Wadsworth Link

Road construction between Rittman and Wadsworth remains unfinished though the concrete bridge over River Styx is complete. Workers expect the road will be ready for travel once the bridge sets and the road is properly finished.

A license to wed was issued to Ralph W Rock and Adena Blatter of this place last week. Both bride and groom are known locally, the bride being the daughter of Mr and Mrs William Blatter. Northwest of town Rev Lentz officiated. The council met in regular session Monday with the mayor clerk and all councilmen present. The regular pay ordinance and the assessing ordinance for the North Fifth Street sewer job were passed.

Death of Judge Orrs Son at Orrville

Paul Smith Orr aged 28 son of Judge and Mrs T W Orr of Orr villa died Sunday morning after a four months’ illness from tuberculosis. He is survived by his parents two sisters and a brother. He was buried Wednesday afternoon in Crown Hill cemetery at Orrville.

Friends report E. Slaybaugh III, owner of the plumbing and tinning business Realty Ride, has died at his parents’ Wooster home. Mrs Slaybaugh is in Wooster assisting in care and mourning.

Education Week Planned in Wayne County Schools

American Education Week will be observed in Wayne county schools from November 16 to 22. Plans are being made for the week's events with AMOAK as night sessions to allow all parents to visit classrooms. County Superintendent Gibbons is coordinating a program to be announced soon.
