A four day Harvest Show of Art opens with a reception for patrons and artists at the old Rittman Department Store on 14 South Main from 3 to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The show runs 4 to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving and 3 to 8 Friday Saturday and Sunday. Jim Perkins of Medina hosts daily as guest artist showcasing paddle pottery and enameling with four guest artists on the final day Franklin Bates of Lodi and Dale Law.
Doylestown moves to curb youth trouble with a strict curfew of 11 p m for those under 18. Council members fault lax parents and urge court appearances for guardians of loiterers. A pool hall on Portage Street closed under state law. safety improvements and lights for city trucks noted. JayCees plan spring restrooms at city park with labor and money. possible city income tax discussed.
Albert W. Imhoff 87 North Fourth has been unanimously named to Ritman City Council to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Lawrence Wilmot. His term expires December 1, 1969. Imhoff is chief chemist at Morton Salt, a Heidelberg College graduate, and he and his wife Beverly have three daughters Kathy, 20, Jenni, 14, and Cindy, 11. Community room use at City Hall is high, with Boy Scout groups, square dancing, REACT, Pac Mor Campers, Alcoholics Anonymous, VFW, and the Chippewa Valley Citizens Band among regulars. The Safety Building basement could be remodeled at about 2000 for Scouts and Senior Citizens, while avoiding loss of 100 per month rent from the Safety Building. Fluoridation equipment costs 800, hydrofluosilicic acid purchase approved, same fluoride as Wadsworth. Fluoridation of city water expected in 30 to 60 days. Council will organize for the new year Monday at 7:30. New councilman Ray Pratt to be sworn in along with Jay Griffith and Clarence Kunkler for a two-year term. Ed Brophy, outgoing councilman, thanks all for eight years of service.
Chippewa Board of Education votes to place a bond issue and levy on the ballot Tuesday January 7 to fund a new high school near Smithville. A $1.25 million state grant requires district bonding and a 23 year repayment of about $250000. Project aims for a September 1969 completion with capacity for 1200 students. Directors also approve conference trip for two teachers and hires a substitute bus driver and part time custodian.
Edsel B Ellington 46 of 234 North Seneca will have services today at 2 p m in Huntington W V He died Saturday at Veterans Hospital Lexington Ky after a long cancer illness He was a World War II veteran native of Virginia and lived in Huntington before moving to Rittman in 1959 He was a truck driver for OCO Surviving wife Nellie a son Robert Lee daughters Barbara Roberts Patricia Outs three mothers three sisters and four grandchildren
Sgt. Stanley W. Armentrout 20 of Rittman died in Vietnam after a mortar blast. He is survived by parents Stanley and Charlene Armentrout, wife Linda Sue Rosenberg, brothers David Ronald and Randy, sister Cherie, and grandmother Ota Vance. Services at Calvary Baptist Church with full military honors. He served with Company E Reconnaissance Platoon 11th Infantry Division, enlisted 1964, in Vietnam since July. Born September 13, 1948 in Durbin West Virginia. a 1966 Rittman High School graduate.
