Despite poor weather the Grange held a November 12 meeting. Missing books include Arbian Sights and A Little Girl cook book. A Columbus-bound search is urged after the next meeting. Grandparents Win Custody Fight In Wayne County Court

In Wayne County hearings Judge Critchfield awarded custody of the three year old to the grandparents after a prolonged dispute with the child's father and his housekeeper. The case centered on the boy's welfare and stability with the grandparents who had cared for him since his mother's death. A parallel note reports a Ford sedan theft near Akron with no recovered traces.

Milk truck struck by B and O train with two saved

Webster Veney driving a milk truck with Pere Schneider escaped after the B and O passenger No 7 struck the vehicle at Main Street crossing. The truck, heavily damaged, veered but did not overturn. Veney and Schneider were uninjured. No crossing watchman or warning devices reported.

Young Man Loses Hand in Hunting Accident

Augustus Beery was hunting rabbits when a shotgun discharged into his right wrist. He was taken to a Wooster hospital Monday evening and the right hand was amputated above the wrist. The accident occurred on the first day of rabbit season.

Rittman Lodge Pythians Attend Orrville Ritual Conferrals

About thirty members of Rittman Lodge No 766 Knights of Pythias attended Orrville Thursday night for ritual work as many candidates were initiated. Applicants from Wayne County lodges were conferred ranks at Orrville. A large turnout from Rittman reported a grand, good time with further initiations in Rittman and a Sterling delegation observing Tuesday night.

Boy loses hand in rabbit hunt near Rittman

An eighteen year old hunter from Rittman suffered the loss of his right hand after a gun discharged while he stood on a stump with the muzzle resting on the ground near the Berger farm southeast of Rittman. Amputation occurred at Wooster hospital, with the boy expected to recover.

Mayors crackdown on pool rooms and tobacco sales in Rittman

Mayor Shackleford warned pool room and tobacco shop proprietors they must follow laws on operation and selling cigars cigarettes and to miners under 18. Enforcement will be strict statewide with arrests possible if not complied. In court, Lee Noble pled guilty to assaulting his wife and paid 53.04 in fines and costs.

Greek man arraigned for disturbing the peace in city fight

Lemis Asimacopulos, a Greek immigrant, appeared before Mayor Shackleford on a Tuesday charge of disturbing the peace. He pleaded guilty, paid a total of 28 dollars in fine and costs, and was released. The incident involved a fight with fellow Greek John Gickas, both members of a construction gang, with Asimacopulos as the aggressor. The affidavit was filed by J Schorger.
