Local residents celebrate birthdays and anniversaries from Wednesday through Monday. Students and adults are noted for college activities and campus visits, including Grace College Winona Lake and Goshen College. Community groups and school events are listed with dates in November.
City Studies Consulting Service Strickland chairs the 1972 73 Christmas Seal Campaign in the Rittman area with Ron L Slivka as Special Gifts Chairman. The effort runs six weeks starting Monday November 13 to combat tuberculosis emphysema air pollution and smoking. Officials urge residents to respond to Christmas Seal letters and use seals on mail and packages.
The PTO will meet on Thursday November 9 at 7 30 pm at West Hill School. Mrs Meyer the school nurse will discuss nursing care and the program she carries out in the Rittman School system. All parents are invited.
A Wadsworth Rittman Hospital pulmonary therapy department debuts with seven therapists using modern inhalation therapy machines for inpatient and outpatient care. The program aims to coordinate county emergency services, extend to Medina and Lodi hospitals this week, and may expand to Wadsworth Health Center and house calls with area doctors.
United Telephone Company will start construction on a new Wooster building, with Midwest Constructors, Inc. of Mansfield awarded the contract to build the Wooster Plant Operations Center near State Route 585 between Orrville and Wooster. The facility costs about 162000 dollars, aims for completion in February 1973, and will serve Installation and Repair, Construction and Cable departments with plans for a warehouse serving Orrville, Wooster, and Millersburg offices.
Mark Lawner of the Ralph L Woolpert Company presented a plan to study and develop a citywide water and sewer program funded by a 62184 Revenue Sharing grant. The project would assess growth, update population and land use data, and draft general plans for sanitary sewer and water systems to guide capital budgeting and potential annexation in the Akron Wooster area.
The 1972 United Fund Drive raised $19,531, about 93 percent of the $21,000 goal. Donors like Packaging Corporation of America, Commercial division, Morton Salt, and various groups contributed, but the total fell short. Chairman Tom Sparks said pledges remain incoming and the goal may not be reached.
