In the pouring rain last Monday a high school teacher stalled her car, blocking traffic from Laurel Street as a crossways lodged vehicle caused a delay. The driver sat with head in hands awaiting help while frustration lingered at the scene.
Letter recounts eight hour car journey to Cochabamba Bolivia from La Paz contrasting two cities twined with mountains warm streets and quiet plazas. Describes adobe Indian tombs churches altars chandeliers and a life size crucifix as well as a lively procession and strong sunburn from hot weather. Ends with hometown Rittman football homecoming praise.
Bruce Trogdon, of Rittman, named one of 46 winners in the 9271st Annual Obhve University American Sisters Contest. Students statewide participated, with many entries received from Ohio schools.
Local fans in Rittman, Ohio follow Jerry Brickey of 69 Grant as he dominates arm wrestling. Brickey, RIS class of 1967, has seven TV appearances on Channel 8’s Big Chuck and Hoolithan show without a defeat, holding titles including Ohio light heavyweight, Southern United States light heavyweight, and Michigan-Canadian trophies. He credits relentless training and sponsorships for his rise from a frail high school athlete to a champion who once defeated heavyweight world champ Roy Ridgely. Brickey recalls starting weight training after a rough start on the RIS football team and building success through local and out of town challenges.

The Rittman initiative promotes local paper recycling with Packaging Corporation of America backing a sale of collected papers to Riley who then sells to PDA. The drive funds the Junior Senior Prom and keeps money in Rittman while supporting local jobs and taxes. the program highlights waste paper recycling and its impact on the regional paper shortage.
Cleveland Indians visit Ritmar High School for a winter clash. Star players Buddy Ball Walter Walliams John Files Frank Dutty and Jack Brohamer pace the Indians with Dutty averaging 40 points per game. Tickets sold presale at 50 cents students and 1.30 adults. proceeds support cheerleading squads.
