Memorial Day plans by Local Legion Post in Rittman

Local American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Gold Star Mothers and Boy Scouts led a parade from the Light Hotel to Rittman High School auditorium for Memorial Day services. Rev Hendrinking opened the program with America the Beautiful, then Rev Ort read the Roll of Honor. Veterans of Civil War and later conflicts were honored in a solemn address. The audience joined in singing Spanell Banner and attendance was strong. Veterans graves were decorated at Shinesburg Knupps Sterting Milion Oak, and the Bugle Corps marched to Doylestown and Creston for parades.

Father of Atty Carl Hoover Passes Away at Burton City

The father of attorney Carl Hoover died Sunday morning at his home in Burton City after a two week illness. He was 78 years old, born May 2, 1863 in Würzburg Germany, migrated to America, and lived much of his life in Roughman township. Surviving children include Miss Mary Hoover, Peter Hoover Jr, Frey Hoover, Frank Hoover, Albert Hoover, Karl Hoover, and William A Hoover with nine grandchildren. Funeral at St Agnes Church was held Wednesday at 9:30 AM, burial at Green Hill Cemetery, Orrville. He was former city solicitor for Rittman and later resided in Wooster.

Mrs Gregg Leaves for California Visit

Mrs Gregg and children depart Cambridge Ohio to visit her brother A H Lowery and family in San Fernando California. Mr Gregg joins to Cambridge and vicinity before they travel by Yellow Bus Line from New York to Los Angeles. They start from Cambridge today.

Funeral for Fred Ditch in Clinton

Mr and Mrs Joseph Landis Mr L J Dilabahn and I and Mrs Ira Muse of Dolgesto and Mr and Mrs C B Wenger attended the funeral of Fred Ditch of Clinton. Tuesday afternoon Mr Ditch was 82 years old and had been a Justice the Peace and a Notary Public for a number of years.

Henry Rickert patriarch of Dr. Elvin Rickert and father-in-law of Martha Smith Rickert died at his Wadgsworth home on Saturday from a stroke. He passed away last year. Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with burial at Poe, Ohkle. He was age 75.

Surprise birthday party for Mrs Gregg noted

Last Friday friends and neighbors surprised Mrs C C Gregg with well filled baskets. The evening featured cards with MecGory and Mrs Charles Snyder winning prizes. Mrs Gregg received a beautiful compact. She and her daughters Dolores and Waldine left Tuesday for San Fernando California to visit her brother.

Aged Resident Passes Away At Medina County Farm

Abraham Neweemer, an estimable resident of Medina County, died at his farm residence 12 miles northeast of Rittman Sunday morning. He came as a young man with his bride and helped build a prospering era in the community. Surviving are his wife and six children Alice, Edward, Lee, Warren, and others, with many grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the family home and burial followed in the Chargh cemetery.

Mary Longenecker Wins First Honors in Essay Contest

Miss Mary Longenecker of the 1928 Rittman High School class won first honors in Ohio as a participant in the Fifth National Meat Story Contest conducted by the National Live Stock and Meat Board of Chicago. The educational project for high school girls urged essays on human body value and home economics. The achievement reflects credit on Longenecker and on Rittman High School and its staff.

Child Taken To Hospital In Sterling Area

A three year old child of Mr and Mrs Paul Hants Sterling Ayre was taken to Wad s hospital Sim day with diabetes. The child had been ill for several weeks. Mr Hants arrived from Asperwall Pa on Tue 5 due to his daughter's illness. He has been a patient in Asperwall Sanitarium. The remainder of his visit will depend on his child's condition.

Leonard Sk of Youngstown delivered the graduation class address to Orrville’s graduate class Friday evening. A number of Big manites heard the rotarian secretary of the Youngstown M. C. A. report on Heidelberg College days and a former Wayne County makeat spoke of Tiffin events. The old-time godal of the sea-20m was held at Landis barn on North Waima last Saturday evening and proved a big success, with plans for a regular Saturday-night event through the summer.
