The 141st general assembly in St Paul unanimously decided to submit three overtures to presbyteries. The first would make women eligible for ordination as ministers the second for elders and the third for lay positions. The move aims to place women on parity with men in the church.
Memorial Day program by the American Legion and Auxiliary with Scouts and a school audience. Graves at Shineraburg Knupps Storiing Mount Zion Oak Grove Catholic Hoover cemeteries decorated with names of local veterans.
The Child Conservation League held a Wadsworth Ella M Everhard Public Library gathering on play. Mrs Joe Cahoon and Mrs Earl Derhammer presented papers on play's value and neuro muscular development, with Artes Glark and Mrs Harry Williams offering related talks. The next meeting is June 14 with Nature Study Birds on the agenda.
Rittman Rotarians held their regular meeting and luncheon on Wednesday instead of Thursday due to Memorial Day exercises. Turk Turley of Wadsworth gave an instructive talk on Personal Patriotism. Willard Grita played a solo with pianist Marjorie Williams accompanying.
Public advisory warns dog owners to keep animals off streets and avoid loose dogs. Authorities say dogs found roaming will be caught if possible and owners held responsible under local ordinances.
Baseball manager Harry Clark says he bears responsibility for team actions and hopes to fund a Fourth of July tournament after the American Legion declined to sponsor due to lack of cooperation. He plans a Legion–team proceeds split and vows to cover expenses, thanking Rittman merchants for past help.

Robert McLaughlin’s group presents An American Tragedy at the Ohio Theatre opening Sunday June 2. The sensational drama follows a poor boy drawn into a wealthy uncle’s world, a-leading man and woman cast including Day Manson Louise Quinn Albert Phillips Ethel Wilson Robert Barrat Berton Churchill and Helen Tucker, culminating in a murder, sensational trial, and tragedy. The production is billed as an outstanding Summer Season hit with popular appeal.
Harry Miller of Wadsworth ran his car into a ditch on the canoe road Sunday. Ed Mifix arrested him for driving while intoxicated, Miller pleaded not guilty and was bound over to probate court with a $500 bond. hearing set for June 6. Earnest Powell and Mr. Carney of Wadsworth wrecked their car Monday night and were taken to Medina County court where Powell faced reckless driving charges.

Rittman Grange welcomed guests at their Friday meeting on May 24. The program featured Cenaan orchestra music, songs by Jay and Mina Leahman, jokes by Roy Grunder, a vocal duet by Mrs Leahman and Mr Myers, a saxophone number by Helen Sell, the playlet The Minister's Mistake with Rev and Mrs Stout and daughter, piano duets by Mrs Myers and Miriam, talks on cooperation by Rev Stout, harmonica and piano selections by Mrs Mumaw, another playlet When Greek Meets Greek, Mrs Hookway, Mrs Boss and Mr Mumaw, a chorus Hallelujah I m a Bum, and a backward drill by eight girls.
Wooster mourns Mayor as crowds attend services in Galician tome on N Beaver Street. Born in Wayta county and long a Democrat, he died after a stroke at 88. Sermon by Rev M F Noabitt of First Presbyterian Wooster. Interment in Wooster cemetery.
