Scholarship Winners Are Honored at Dinner
Seventeen students were honored at the annual high school scholarship dinner for scholastic achievement. Kathleen Moore placed third in state Spanish I, Elizabeth Hostetler seventh in state Latin I, Penny Reffert ninth in state Latin II, and Dick Reffert honorable mention in state general science. District winners included Carnahan, Bernhardt, Moore, Reffert, Hostetler, and Penny Reffert. Carol Shook led with three individual awards. Convenia Thompson earned two. Carol Shook also won band, DAR, and yearbook awards. Convenia received chorus and home economics honors. Danforth Book awards went to Carol Shook and Richard Yoho.

Parking Problem Discussion Set for June 5 at City Hall

Rittman Council Approves Mosquito Spraying and Downspout Survey
Rittman officials voted to hire a mosquito spraying unit for the first week in June and to conduct a downspout survey with the Board of Public Affairs. The plan covers a $4 spraying fee, 30 day correction windows, and a $3,450 survey cost shared by the village and the board. Fred Hoenicke will supervise tests with two students, paid $1.25 an hour, as part of a three month effort to curb illegal downspout connections to the sanitary sewer.

Streets Oil Program Planned This Summer
A list of streets to be oiled this summer appears in today's paper. The project costs 13000 dollars to be shared between the village and property owners. Last year the oiling cost eight cents per front foot. Bids are being sought for this year's project.
