Ford Touring Car Struck by Freight Train at Marnst Crossing
Monday evening at about four o'clock a Ford touring car driven by Russell Schaffter was struck by a freight train at the Marnst crossing of the Erie. Passenger Bert Gordon sustained scalp wounds and was taken to Wadsworth hospital by Ebert's ambulance. The driver avoided a worse outcome by turning the car as the train approached. Gordon's condition later showed signs of improvement.

Former Doylestown resident dies by own hand
George Barkhammer a longtime Doylestown figure and Chippewa justice of the peace aged about 66 died Friday morning at his home. After breakfast he shot himself, ending his life almost instantly. Funeral services were held Sunday.

Deaths of Amstutz brothers from Canton area
Marl Amstutz, 66, brother of Noah Amatutz and Ul rich Amstutz, died last Friday night near Sterling en route to Canton. A carpenter by trade, he had lived in Barberton for years before moving to Canton. Funeral services were held at his sister’s home in Canton Monday and he was buried in Wooster cemetery.
