Commencement set for 46 seniors at local high school
Next week 46 seniors will graduate in a commencement service at the high school at 8 p.m. Rev Virgil Snyder will chair the event. Carol Shook will play Pomp and Circumstance. Rev Charles Turner will give the invocation and the audience will sing Faith of Our Fathers. Rev J E Wheeling will read scripture. Rev Albert Henry will travel to Rittman after prayer for the service. Rev J W Plummer will speak on Set As a Watchman. Father Farrell will lead the benediction. Music themed Planets Stars and Airs of Space will be performed by the school chorus.

Family reunites after 17 years apart in New York to Wadsworth move
Milos Mihailovich, his wife Mira, and two daughters Razka and Ratka are finally united in their apartment on W Sunset Drive after 17 years of separation. Milos, captured by Germans in 1941, endured four years in a Austria brink prison camp before learning his family was alive through the Red Cross. Postwar, he became a US citizen on July 20 1936 and faced red tape to bring them to America. The family sailed on the United States and arrived in New York, then traveled to Rittman and later Wadsworth, where they reunified and the girls began school, adjusting to American life with English improving daily.

Mrs. Mary Howell of 25 Elliott St won a $50 cash prize in a weekly drawing held by Rittman merchants. The event drew the largest crowd yet, with a second $50 prize to be awarded this Friday at 8:30 pm at the south end of town. Carni-fair committee at American Legion Hall discussed ticket sales for five night event July 15 to 19 on the lot beside Diversion Hall. Drive to sell tickets starts Friday with grand prize RCA 21 inch color TV and nightly prizes including a transistor radio and portable HiFi set. Top salesman in each sponsoring group American Legion Lions and Firemen will win 10 percent of their sales in cash. The big top features displays by local merchants under an 180 by 40 foot canvas with booths from hardware to automobiles. Rittman to Build New Dial Telephone Plant
The Rittman area will gain a new $100,000 telephone building as part of a dial system upgrade planned for next year. Ohio Central Telephone Co officials led by Roy R. Moffet announced maps and engineering work began this week to connect the site at North Main Street and Sheldon Avenue with the existing exchange on West Ohio Avenue. The project aims for full equipment by year end 1959 with careful cable routing to minimize service interruptions.

Sewer Project Slows Traffic On Salt Street Area
Traffic on Salt Street and at the W Ohio Avenue and Seneca Street intersection will be snarled for several days due to a new 93367 dollar sewer trunk line project approved by voters last November and awarded last week. One lane will open on Salt Street and traffic at the W Ohio Seneca junction will slow as the street is torn up for branch lines. The trunk lines aim to ease sewage flow from lines laid in 1915, with completion hoped for late summer.

Poppy Sale Drive Totals $339 In Rittman Drive
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary Junior Members Girl Scouts and volunteers in Rittman collected 339.24 during a two day poppy sale last Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Robert McCammon, poppy chairman, reported about 85 women and girls assisted.

Mrs Shong Dies in Figg and Deland Florida
Mrs Shong died suddenly in Figg and later in Deland Florida. The death cause was not available at press time. The Shong family had moved to the area several months ago after the doctor had served this area for years. Burial planned near Toledo according to available information.
