Industry Moves Ink Plants to Rittman From Wadsworth

International Printing Ink plans to move its Wadsworth office and blending facilities to Rittman on Thursday. IPI purchased the building from the Ohio Boxboard Company and will operate mills and mixers with room for expansion. This marks the second ink maker to relocate to Rittman within seven months, following Sinclair and Valentine on Industrial Street.

Public Invited to Open Hearings on Zoning Ordinance

Two public hearings will be held on a proposed zoning ordinance on Thursday May 17 and Tuesday May 22 at 8 pm in city hall. The city planning commission will explain the ordinance and answer questions. The plan divides Rittman homes into Residence 1 and 2 zones and limits building heights to 35 feet.

Akron Area Soldier Killed in Korea Delbert B Gorby

Pfc Delbert B Gorby 20 formerly of Rittman was killed in Korea the Defense Department announced He was the son of Mrs Lovina Gorby 735 Shiller Ave Akron who moved there in 1941 The telegram said he was killed in action March 30 He had been wounded and returned to duty last September.

Junior Recreation Program Planned For July and August

A summer recreation program for junior children runs July 10 to August with a full schedule of storytelling handicraft and play. Mrs William Frey chairs a weekly lineup starting July 10 storytelling July 12 crafts and ongoing Tuesday storytelling and Thursday handicraft plus Friday special events including a Mardi Gras parade with prizes.

Gold Star Mothers Honored at Wooster

Six local Legion Auxiliary women attended the Gold Star Tea honoring Gold Star mothers, hosted by the Wayne County Council in Wooster Wednesday afternoon. Delegates to the State Convention in Columbus were selected, including Mrs. Hattie Miller, Mrs. Margaret Hodovan, Mrs. Mildred Nabb, and Mrs. Clara Daniels.

Funeral services for Isadore Stroup

Funeral services will be held for Isadore Stroup, 63, at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Rev. Father J. T. Farrell will officiate. Stroup died suddenly at his home 219 Sterling Ave Tuesday evening. He was born in France and came to this country in 1905. He lived in Milton Township for about 46 years and worked at Ohio Box Board Company for 25 years. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Lavenne Stith Rittman and Mrs. Wanda Abbott home, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two children. Friends may call at Gillman Funeral Home Thursday evening with prayers at 8 p.m.

Commencement Plans for Rittman High School Class of 1951

Annual commencement exercises for the Rittman High School Class of 1951 will be Thursday evening May 25 at 8 p.m. in the High School Auditorium with music by the band, processional, invocation by Rev Daniel K Freymeyer, the class address by Rev Whey, and diploma presentations. Class officers are President Edwin Schaad, Vice President Richard Kanehl, Secretary Thel Pi Riggs, Treasurer Walter Buckwell. Mrs Hilda Over is a class sponsor.

North Street and First Street School Final Schedule

Final schedule for North Street and First Street schools lists junior high commencement at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium and exams next Thursday and Friday. Picnics are set for May 4 and May 25 at city parks for North Street School children. Grade cards will be issued May 31 at 10 a.m.

Poppy Day Plans In Rittman Honor War Dead

Memorial poppies to be worn Friday and Saturday May 25 and 26 in Rittman. The American Legion Auxiliary sells poppies made by disabled veterans to aid disabled veterans and war orphans. Mrs Stanley Tuska, unit chairman, says proceeds stay in the community to support veterans and needy children. Volunteers may contact Mrs Tyska for Poppy Day duty.
