Compulsory Pickup Favored in City Waste Plan
City officials discussed moving the old dump to a new site near Mennonite Road about 300 yards off Guilford. A compulsory curbside pickup with city billing residents via water and sewer was favored to lower costs, with bids from M. W. Jackson and Sanitation Services of Akron. A meeting with Columbus sanitary engineers will address questions and push final site approval. Pastor James Watt lauded the Clean Up campaign as 90 truckloads were hauled away in two weeks. First reading of an ordinance would accept Pioneer Mutual Cemetery Association assets for maintenance.
