Realtor John H. Fisher showcases winter Florida trophies in his office including two tarpon weighing 1% and 12744 pounds, sharks, alligators, a swordfish, and a wild turkey. He invites public viewing and suggests placing the collection in a public space in Rittman.
The district convention of Pythian Sisters met in Bellville with the Rittman unit among attendees. The local degree team led by Mrs. Edward Wheeler performed the work after inspection by the district deputy, traveling by auto for the event.
Rittman Grange held a May 6 meeting with good attendance. After brief business the lecture hour featured recitation I got a dad by Wayne Fixler, songs by the committee, necitation by Esther Amstutz, songs by Mrs. Wm Kanengelser and Ray Fixler, encore Old Maids, and a playette Aunt Lucinda Stays by the Fixler and Kanengelser families. The next session May 22 will cover Rural Pace and federal vs state farmer laws.
The contractor's equipment is on site and work has started on the Rittman Wadsworth road. If weather cooperates, the outlet to Wadsworth should be usable before fall. The road will be cindered for now and later paved and likely designated a state road with joint state and county maintenance. Mrs Blanche Tobias sent to Columbus institution after court review and examination by officials.
El Slaybaugh becomes sole owner of the brass tinning business of John Branison, with Branigan taking over the building. Slaybaugh moves into the former Branigan tinning shop, and retains the plumbing business. The B. & W Oll Co. partner Branigan now devotes full time to other ventures.
George Workman, a Doylestown youth found guilty of disorderly conduct with three Worcester women, testified he bought a quart of liquor from Harry Flath of Doylestown. Sheriff Bucher detained Flath after the statement. Workman pleaded not guilty. trial set for Thursday. Bond arranged. he faces further action after the trial and a return to Lancaster.
William Kenninger a local chiropractor moved last week from his former quarters into rooms over the Variety store. The new quarters are larger and will greatly aid in his practice and service to patients.
The American Legion completed plans for Memorial Day on Sunday May 31. Congressman John McSweeney will speak at 11 o clock in Hig School auditorium replacing regular church services. Wreaths and flags will honor veterans buried in five nearby cemeteries. Saturday morning grave visitations will be announced in a later itinerary.
Miss Estella Snyder and Miss Frances Odenkirk of Wooster were arrested in Rittman charged with intoxication and disturbing the peace. They were arraigned before Judge Jones and sent to the Marysville reform school for delinquency with probation, while Workman faced parole and a small fine.
National Hospital Day was observed at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital with a hospital day program. The event featured talks by Dr J Bolow and Mrs Carrie Geisinger and performances by Mrs P Stauffer and Madeline Anderton with vocal and violin solos. Several attendees from Rittman joined the event and refreshments followed the program.
