Clara Gillman Celebrates 80th Birthday in Rittman
Mrs Clara Gillman 80 held a family birthday gathering Sunday at her son Raul Jr house in Sa aon Mhio 7 Wayne County. Attendants included son Paul and family daughter Mrs Clarence Ash enfelter and husband of Bay ilsage son Karl and family of Rittman and cousin Hulda Am stutz Gates Mills. A two tiered cake with 80 between icing columns and roses and doves topped the dessert. The top layer was served Tuesday evening to her brother Delbert Amstutz and wife of Acme. Mrs Gillman born at the old Amstutz homestead south of Rittman on Route 94 has lived in Wayne County all her life and is one of Rittman’s oldest residents. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and raised glads as a hobby until recent years.

Longtime Wayne County Sheriff Dies at 67
Earl Malls longtime Wayne County sheriff and former Cleveland officer died after a career in law enforcement spanning over four decades. He began with Cleveland police, later served as deputy sheriff under Charles A Nauman, and was elected sheriff in 1936 serving twelve consecutive years. Survived by widow Stella, two daughters, four brothers, three sisters, and five grandsons. Honors include life membership in Central Ohio Saddle Club and service on the Apple Creek State Hospital staff. Burial in Rittman cemetery.
