State highway director favors Sterling road takeover

Col. Robert Beightler told a delegation of 18 in Columbus that the state would likely take over the six mile stretch west from Sterling. The group presented a petition for road tax, bridge near the Jacob Schorle farm, and right of way northwest of Sterling, with support from Wayne and Medina counties industrials.

County Legion Membership Hits New High of 516

County Firemen’s Assn to Meet Here May 20

The Rittman fire department will host the Wayne County Volunteer Firemen’s Association meeting on Monday night May 20 at City Hall. Fire Chief Er. W. Two Drivers Die For Route 5 Head On Crash

Dale McAdams of Orrville collided head on with Forest Kindle of Rittman on Route 5 about one mile east of Easton Sunday around 1 30. Both cars damaged severely. Mrs Ernest Blough riding with Kindle suffered multiple injuries including jaw cut tooth knocked out and leg sprain. Kindle had two broken ribs and McAdams facial cuts. The injured girl was taken to Barberton hospital. Kindle was westbound on Route 6 and McAdams eastbound. State highway patrol investigated and Justice Baker fined McAdams 25 dollars plus costs for reckless driving after plea of guilty.

Cars collide on Erie Street injures none

Mrs Ed Boyle of Rittman and Henry Wald of Sterling sideswiped on Erie street in front of Daya Lance home. Neither driver injured. Boyle westbound passing parked car, Wald entering Rittman from Sterling. Fenders tires and wheels damaged. Marshal Charles Heffelman investigated.
