A boy named Robt Clippinger was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon near Sidney Huff. Examiners found no broken bones but severe bruising with injuries to the bay. witnesses described the carting by a wagon and a near miss when wheels hit him.
Clerk of Courts Charles Witt and Sheriff Jacot drew from the wheel of names for the next court term. LANCE and C E BEYLER were drawn for grand and petit juries. No Milton township citizens were selected for grand or petit juries. The grand jury meets on May X and the petit jury on May X.
F P Johnson and Redpath advance agent toured locations for upcoming Redpath chautauquas. Rittman is among towns visiting this year, continuing years of support for the institution.
Jacob Barnard aged 62 longtime Burbank resident died at home last Thursday evening after a six week illness from double pneumonia He was active in local affairs and at death served as president of the Wayne County Telephone Company
Professor Johnsen, a history expert on old economies, visits Case School to review current standards. Superintendent Gaia expresses elation as the eminent scholar notes recommendations allowing admission without usual entrance exams for Case students.
Thirty nine Ohio State chemical engineering students visited Rittman plants on a week long tour guided by Prof Jas R Withrow. They toured The Ohio Boxboard Co and The Ohio Salt Co, continuing to Akron Cleveland Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh among other cities as part of their annual chemistry class trip.
Henry I Vaughn transfers four tracts totaling 46 acres in Green township to Adam Yoch heim. J. O Fritz transfers six acres in Milton township to Ray W Ashbrook. Wayne County National Bank transfers six acres in Milton township to J. O Fritz.
The community marks Boys Week with a weeklong school program, athletic events led by Coach McConnell, and a pastimes theatre showing four reels. Students toured Wadsworth plant, and a mock primary election featured two party tickets. Candidates for city clerk and other offices are slated to be voted on Friday.

Park Board voted to convert the southerly area of Central Park into a community swimming pool, sponsored by the local American Legion post. The pool would place the deep end in the southeast corner with a First Street entrance leading to dressing rooms and showers, and the shallow end beside the bath house.
Regret is expressed over a contemplated management change at the Acme store. Mr. Robert Searcy and his wife plan to leave the village around mid May as Mr. Searcy will run the Acme at Wadsworth and the local store will get a new manager, possibly from Wooster, welcomed by all.
The community chest committee met Monday and approved a drive during the week of May 38 to raise 2500 for various year round purposes.
Mayor Stevenson of Wadsworth reappointed Mrs Alexander Thom to the hospital auxiliary board for a second term. She has served commendably since the hospital’s founding, continuing a long-standing commitment.
The Citizens Savings and Loan company is now located in larger quarters in the Lance area, former Hull block. Safes fixtures and equipment were moved last week with no interruption to business, and the new site offers improved facilities for the institution.
This month marks a twenty five year anniversary for Henry J. Longz and Jessie Mougey of Sterling road. Henry is a rural carrier and Jessie, daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Mougey, is celebrated by neighbors with congratulations.
A special young people service will be held at The Church of God at Knupp sy Sunday evening May 8 at 745. A short pantomime readings etc will be given. A hearty welcome to all.
Franklyn Burkett Civil War veteran of Creston died early Tuesday after a long illness at his daughter Mrs Ralph Baum’s home. A lifelong county resident he drilled wells for years. Survived by ten children including Mrs Baum Mrs J W Mohter of Wadsworth Mrs Clara Orr of Weddworth Mrs Lenitima J of Lac Fayette and others two sons C R Burkett of Akron BC Burkett of Rittman John Burkett Wonstar and M L Burkett New Milford sixteen grandchildren seven great grandchildren Funeral services were held Thursday at two o’clock in the afternoon.
The nation will observe Mother’s Day next Sunday, one of several anniversaries tied to Philadelphia origins in 1908. An act of Congress in 1924 directed the president to highlight the observance nationwide.
