A Boxboard Company plan outlines expansion to raise production from 150 000 tons to 210 000 215 000 tons this year and next. Leaders emphasize Rittman must show proactive leadership to attract labor housing and spur city progress while expanding capacity through better machinery and water supply.
H C Hayward of Boys Village spoke to the Lions Club on counseling youth and parents in trouble. Dick Bryan installed officers. Joe Burger joined as a new member. The Kopy Katz entertained with music and comedy. New president Chet Haulk spoke as Ladies Night attendees were introduced. Boyd Miller joined Henry Kressman at the piano.
The scrap drive raised 230 dollars for the PTA. Homer Hoosier announced the result on Wednesday and urged additional scrap paper and metal contributions via Walter Keating at Rittman Waste Paper Co.
Izaak Waltons Dine Charles Dambach head of Wildlife Conservation spoke to the Isaak Walton Club at a Smithville dinner. About twenty Isaak Waltons from Rittman attended the smelt dinner.
Citizens join with school officials for a 7 30 p m dedication of the new North Street grade school on Thursday night May 3 Weather permitting the ceremony will be held on the hard top playground east of the building with an alternate inside in rain Address by Dr Lester H Munzenmayer Kent State University recognition by Willard H Hauenstein and others including Myron Steiner and Ronald A Spahn The High school band led by Ralph E Stokes will perform and prayers will be offered by Rev Charles Ashman Jr The bond issue for the school was approved four years ago and the event marks its formal dedication
The Queen selects eight students for festival duties this week. Attendants include seniors Dick Winkie and Twila Wagner, juniors Floyd Pololska and Phyllis Seebauer, sophomores Charles Greer Colernd Trogden, and freshmen Snith Beverly Sekid blower, with two gidds Pat ty Mayte and Georate Crowbearer.
Mrs Ritter was chosen as president of the Ladies City club at a banquet held Monday night at the Oaks on Chippewa Lake. Merle Cline presented each member with a red rose bud. Dorothy Themiweter was named vice president, Pauline Colbean treasurer, and Ada Har grove sergeant at arms.
Milton Garden Club will meet Monday night May 7 with Miss Edith Schorle instead of at Mrs Sam Graber. Roll call will be answered by A Common Planting Mistake. Mr Nariv Brenseman will discuss Check Vegetables on Five Counts. Mrs Harold Miller speaks on A Garden Needs Annuls.
Parents with children to start kindergarten or first grade next fall must register soon. Children entering kindergarten must be five before January 1 and those entering first grade must be six before January 1. Call Mrs Margaret Hilty at the high school.
Mrs Hollinger 82 died early Wednesday at Citizens Hospital Barberton after two years of declining health. Born near Marshallville Sept 19 1868 she lived in Chippewa Township. Survived by son Ernest Hollinger and brother Jacob Eich both of Marshallville. husband Harry preceded her in death nine years ago. Friends may call at Fredrick Funeral Home Rittman Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. DST services Friday 2 p.m. at the funeral home Rev J H Poctter officiating. Interment in Saint Michael Lutheran Church Marshallville.
The Shade Tree Commission announced that planting new trees and replacing dead ones is postponed due to nurserymen advising high losses if done now. Those needing trees planted or replacements should contact A J Grant C E Rhonemus J Baldwin or W W Beodager.
A series of birth notices from Rittman and nearby towns records five sons born to local families. Vernon and wife in Rittman welcomed a son on April 26, George Moyer in Rittman welcomed a son on April 27, Elbert Canter in Hittman on April 28, Harold Evans in Seville on April 28, and Donald Hobbs in Hittman on April 28.
Mrs Whit Smithwick, chair of the Health and Safety Committee, reported that plans were complete for the dinner the PTA will sponsor for the Schoolboy Patrol next Tuesday May 8 in the High School Cafeteria. Twenty one boys will be honored and receive awards.
