C E Convention Draws Large Wayne County Crowd
Nearly 200 people attended the Wayne County Christian Endeavor Spring Convention at Milton Presbyterian Church last Sunday. Rev Iarrell Linder led the afternoon service, Dick Milford presided over devotions, and Miss Vivian Hardgrove was introduced as County Union Director. Installation of Hardgrove and others followed, and Lundie was served in the social rooms by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Lt Bobby Killough Declared Dead in World War II
Lt Bobby Killough son of Mr and Mrs Earl Killough of Wright street and grandson of Mr and Mrs Sam Welch of Salt street has been officially declared dead by the war department. He piloted a P 51 and was shot down on his 49th reconnaissance mission over Ingolstadt Germany April 14 1945. His plane went down in flames and no survival evidence has been found. Born August 4 1924 he attended Rittman High School class of 1942 and worked at Ohio Injector Co Wadsworth before enlisting in the Air Corps in November 1942. He entered service February 1943 and graduated Maxwell Field Alabama March 1944 as a second lieutenant. His last leave was August 1944 and he went overseas December 1944.

C W Ellenwood of the Ohio Experiment Station reported after extensive fruit bud examinations that April 28 Sunday night brought unprecedented damage in Wayne County. He estimated a half crop of apples and a quarter crop of peaches, with cherries nearly wiped out earlier and further losses to plums and pears.
