Rittman Kin Daughter of Town's Namer Dies in Cleveland
Mrs. Josephine Grace Cerri, 68, daughter of Frederick Rittman who gave the town its name, died last Saturday at Lake Side Hospital in Cleveland. Rittman, former Erie Railroad treasurer and later U.S. War Department auditor, inspired local contention over station naming as debates moved from Milton and Arkona to the final choice of Rittman.

Williams leaves for plant engineer post in Connecticut
Pyam Williams, longtime maintenance superintendent at Ohio Box board Co, leaves April 1 to become plant engineer for Robertson Paper Box Co in Montville, Connecticut. He was honored at a dinner by 30 company leaders and presented a wrist watch. Williams, a Rittman native since 1936, served on the recreation board, Boy Scout council, and ration board, and is a Lions Club member. His wife Mary Crowley and their three daughters will join him upon settlement of a new home.

Red Cross Seeks Final Push For Local Donors
Rittman Red Cross committee led by Mrs. W. W. Bodager thanks volunteers and donors as they pursue the remaining funds. A letter from a Rittman boy overseas underscores ongoing need and morale boost from Red Cross aid.
Mildred O'Brien Dies at Home After Weeklong Illness
Mrs Mildred O'Brien 53 long resident of the community died March 21 at 36 South Street after a week of illness. Funeral services were held March 23 at St Anne's Church with Rev J T Farrell officiating. Surviving are husband Richard C two daughters Mrs Mary Banner Ashtabula and Viola O'Brien Rittman six sons Donald Ashtabula Richard E John W Ernest Pat Joseph and Harry all of Rittman her mother four brothers and one sister. Burial followed at Rittman Cemetery

Garver Re hired by Board in Surprise Action
The board of education held secret sessions March 16 and 27 to hire teachers for 1946-47. The clerk added V A Garver to the re hire list by telephone after a vote that kept the action confidential until minutes are approved. The superintendent position for Garver is also noted as a one year employment.

Hobart Ind high school band under Frederick Ebbs comes to Rittman April 3 at 1 45 p m for a concert. Both bands will dine with Rittman Band Mothers Club at United Brethren Church parlor before the show. Admission 15 cents for pupils 25 cents for adults to help cover lunch costs for about 120 musicians.
