Names include Whitten Karl for Wooster City, Stebbins for Canaan, Miller for Chippewa, Brennon for Green, Keeler for Congress, Kuch for Paint, Merkle for Mt. Eaton, Beazel for Fredericksburg, Aviesworth for Saltereckh, Sidle for Plain, Hunsicker for Sugarcreek, and Franks for Franklin. No contagious disease cases in Rittman for months. The Thomas home on Chiave was fumigated and quarantine lifted. Smallpox case remains near David Predrick home southwest of Ruttunin with Ida Fredrich noted as the caretaker.
The Kenmore Herald reports a police officer and two former officers were indicted for grand larceny. They purportedly arrested John Zake, searched him, and stole 260 dollars from his clothing before jail and a nonsensical fine were imposed. The named individuals are Patrolman J H Rider, former Patrolman I S Lindsay, and J K Woods.
A large neighbor gathering Saturday March 23 honors Mr and Mrs Wom Musser and family of Marshallville. Guests include Walls Redinger and son Ervin, Zianmerman family, Zimmerman relatives, Kelbly family, Dietz, Morrison, and many more. The event featured games, lunch, and a gift for Mrs Musser, after which the couple heads to Cleveland for their future home.
Rittman High School edged Dalton in a close boys game 46 to 32 after a strong performance by Captain Liecits with 32 points and Conlen adding 12. The girls earlier defeated Lodi, setting up Friday’s finale with Dalton and urging strong attendance.

A letter targets the Gold Dust washing powder makers The Nick Fairbanks company and Ohio Boxboard on German printing. It claims German marks will be removed from cartons as new plates are prepared to drop German wording and suppress related marks from the product packaging.
In compliance with the proclamation issued by the President this office will adopt Eastern time effective April 1, 1918. Office hours are 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. E Faber Postmaster.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio dismissed complaints against Star Telephone Company from Lodi and other towns. It found rates not unreasonable or excessive, service deemed remedied, and discrimination removed, thus ordering dismissal of the cases.
Six inmates escaped from the Stark County workhouse in Canton last Thursday. Cox alerted workhouse officials to search for the escapees. Rumor tied Henry Koop, recently at the institution for beating Ezra Harpter over a board bill, to the escape but this could not be confirmed and is likely false. Mayor Shackelford notified Federal officials in Cleveland that Koop is an unregistered alien German, and officials will likely act.

A conscientious objector, Gerber was drafted last fall before the classification plan was decided, served briefly at Camp Sherman, then discharged. Now he again faces issues with the draft board.
Orrin Shafer of Wadsworth mourns as his young daughter dies after her dress catches fire while playing near a blaze. Friends recall the accident occurred Saturday with fatal burns that proved untreatable.
Joseph Stamper, a Bair Street boarder, was found intoxicated at the Grant Street boarding house and told to walk with Marshal Cox. He pleaded guilty to intoxication, was fined $1 and costs totaling 2.85, paid, and released. the incident followed a night of drinking as some argued liquor traffic should be suppressed.
Sterling citizen Harmon Rheyne visited Dr Gregg Sunday for a painful tooth extraction and paid with a bill from his pocketbook. He later discovered his pocketbook containing $100 was missing at the Erie depot ticket window. He has not recovered the money.

The Gatehouse Agency reports several recent property transfers. Knight D Mears sells the N First St house to Frank L Sinks. Mears plans to move to Cleveland where he works for Standard Machine Co. Peter Hessidence sells the South State St six room modern house to Edward Stine. Hessidence will move to a farm west of town around April 1. Frank Holdiman's State St home transfers to Lace Trent, a pipe fitter at Ohio Salt Co, and Holdiman has moved to Cook farm east of Seville. Dus Barringer acquires a corner lot at Ohio Ave and State.
The Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian Church will meet next Thursday April 4 at the home of Mrs Vanca Hickin. A good attendance is desired. Sewing is to be done.
