Rittman Community Brief Sees Birthdays Anniversaries and Events

Streets warm with spring chores as residents fire up mowers and apply lawn food while birthdays mark the week. Sgt Gregory Jewell visits home for his 21st. Langley AFB. Barbara home from Bowling Green. joined Kappa Phi. Chipmunk pet rumor at Imhoff home. PTA meeting at West Hill Thursday 1 pm. Pat Witzberger to speak on physical education. Williams Urges Open Meetings At Legion Assembly

A Wayne County American Legion gathering in Rittman honored 31 World War I veterans and heard Lindsey Williams, publisher of the Rittman Press, call for open county and school board meetings. Williams, Republican candidate for Ohio House, urged liberty defense and responsible dissent while praising open meetings and First Amendment rights. A district band contest and banquet plans followed the event.

Clothing Needed At Depot Help Wanted For Depot Donations

Rittman Jaycees to Sponsor Area Teen Dance

The Rittman Jaycees sponsor a teen dance on April 1 from 8 30 pm to 11 30 pm at Rittman Middle School gym with special guest Bill Miller of WHLO. The Pegasus band performs, refreshments provided, tickets priced 200 dollars per couple and 125 dollars for a stag attendee.

Willie Robinson Completes Field Training in Germany

Private First Class Willie F Robinson, 17, son of Mrs Alice Skraba of Rittman Ohio, finished two weeks of Field Training with the 3rd Battalion 17th Field Artillery at Grafenwhe er Germany. He is a cannoneer in Battery A, entered the army in July 1971, trained at Fort Knox and last stationed at Fort Sill.

Rittman Board develops 1972 appropriations plan

The Rittman Board of Education adopts a 1,807,949.73 budget for 1972 with 1,461,063.02 for general fund and allocations for uniform supply, permanent improvement, bond retirement and lunchroom funds. Notes show personnel up 23 percent, fixed costs down 4 percent, and a 9,000 lunchroom deficit.

Pastor William Kenny McComas of Calvary Baptist Church releases a double album featuring sermons What Has Happened to the United States and America Wake Up The World Needs You The discs include introductions from Rep Ashbrook and Rep Quillan, with additional recitations recorded in Cincinnati by Artists Recording Corporation and backed by a church quartet and musicians The release aims for national circulation on April 1 with broader reprintings in magazines and Christian periodicals.
